As Managing Director of The Heritage Group, Mark Hoekstra is responsible for strategic planning, operations, marketing and business development for all aspects of the company. Mark has more than 25 years in commercial real estate and an intimate, working knowledge of all facets of the industry. An effective communicator and leader, he ensures that his clients and team regularly set new standards of excellence within the Heritage portfolio.
Away from the office, Mark is also actively involved in several commercial real estate associations and philanthropic efforts. He is currently a member of the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Mark also serves as a member of USD’s Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate – Commercial Real Estate Committee and is a past director of the San Diego County Commercial Association of Realtors and Center City Advisory Committee (CCAC).
Mark also serves as a Past President of both the USD Alumni Association and the Escondido Sunrise Rotary Club. Mark received his degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego. He likes to spend his free time camping in the Southern California desert and Imperial Sand Dunes. He is an active hiker, golfer, baseball player, off-road vehicle rider, horseman and outdoorsman. Mark is also a life-long Chargers and Padres fan and can’t wait for the day San Diego brings home a championship.

Rocco Cortese, Managing Director of The Heritage Group, is responsible for all aspects of the capital and investment advisory business within the firm. Rocco has been an active California real estate broker since 1987. His 30 years of experience in the industry have enabled him to navigate through multiple commercial real estate cycles and establish long-term relationships with private and institutional clients.
Rocco has completed more than $335 million in private and institutional equity transactions over the past 9 years with The Heritage Group. Prior to Heritage, Rocco co-founded Presidio Exchange Advisors, a Bay Area-based capital intermediary that advised private and institutional investors in the acquisition of approximately $1 billion of commercial real estate. He was also previously a Senior Vice President with Jones Lang LaSalle where he focused on business development for the West Coast Office Building Management and Leasing Group.
Rocco graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration. Over the years, Rocco has enjoyed skiing, practicing martial arts and playing guitar for San Francisco’s BOMA band. Since moving to San Diego, Rocco and his family have become advocates for animals and therapeutic horseback riding at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. He currently sits on the board of Entrepreneurs Organization as well as the SISU Academy in San Diego and is actively involved with the Entrepreneurial Management Center at San Diego State University mentoring graduating seniors. Today, he spends most of his free time with his wife and three children and also enjoys cheering for his hometown San Francisco Giants and 49ers.

Eric Scaff, Senior Director of the Corporate Services division at The Heritage Group, has 25 years of broad business-management experience in corporate real estate, asset/property management, integrated facility management, acquisitions, investment analysis and market research. As Senior Director and Market Leader for the San Francisco Bay Area, Eric is responsible for all business development and operational activities in the region. He holds a California real estate license, as well as Series 7 & 63 securities registration.
Prior to joining Heritage, Eric has held positions including Senior Investment Advisor with Presidio Exchange Advisors in San Francisco and Senior Vice President of Jones Lang La Salle where he was responsible for the company’s South American property management and leasing services. Eric has been a guest speaker at many real estate conferences including leading the research team for the ‘Changing Nature of Work’ segment of the CoreNet Global 2010 initiative, examining how demographic conditions and worker styles would impact corporations in 2010. He presented the findings at the CoreNet Global World Congress in Chicago, IL (May 2004).
Eric attended the University of California and graduated with a degree in Economics. He lives in Orinda, CA with his wife, Liza, and two sons. Eric enjoys spending most of his free time with his family doing outdoor activities, hiking, skiing and watching his children play youth sports. When time permits, the family enjoys overseas travel. Eric also volunteers and participates in various civic activities in his community.

Kyle Clark is a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate. As Senior Director at The Heritage Group, Kyle will engage in all aspects of commercial brokerage representing landlords and tenants. During his career, Kyle has completed more than $500 million in real estate sales and continues to list an extensive portfolio of commercial properties in San Diego. He was named named a 2015 CoStar Power Broker by CoStar Group, Inc. The annual industry award recognizes distinguished professionals in commercial real estate brokerage who closed the highest transaction volumes in commercial property sales or leases in 2015 within their respective markets.
Prior to joining The Heritage Group, Kyle was a founding partner at ECP Commercial before moving to Burnham Real Estate in 2002 where he was named an equity partner. He stayed with the firm for six years following its sale to Cushman & Wakefield in 2008. Kyle’s client list includes countless national and local retail and office tenants, institutional, governmental and private entities. Kyle’s experience includes retail and office leasing, sales and development projects, ranging from individual commercial condos to large multi-tenant shopping centers and office buildings. His expertise in land sales ranges from single-tenant up to full-block high-rise development sites.
Kyle’s past civic affiliations include the East County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, City of El Cajon Mayor’s Business Council, City of El Cajon Business Development Council, City of El Cajon Commercial Zone Review Committee, El Cajon Downtown Management District Organizing Committee and founding Board of Directors, Leadership E.C. Organizing & Steering Committee and Economic Development Committee, El Cajon Rotary Club and the City of La Mesa Economic Development Committee. He has also been a long-time member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Kyle received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate from San Diego State University in 1985. He is a skier, hiker, cyclist, cook and a very active racing sailor. He has participated in yacht races to Mexico, Hawaii, Bermuda, the Great Lakes, all over the west coast and served as the Commodore of the San Diego Yacht Club in 2012.

Dan McCarthy joins The Heritage Group as Senior Director with more than 25 years’ experience in San Diego commercial real estate. He has held leasing and investment sale listings in all sectors with particular expertise in office, healthcare, and R&D real estate.
Dan’s work in San Diego has resulted in a significant portfolio of long-standing owner and user relationships. He has completed leasing and sales transactions in excess of $300 million across all asset classes. His focus upon medical real estate has led Dan to serve in an advisory capacity to preeminent healthcare organizations in the San Diego region, including Sharp Healthcare, SCMG, California Orthopedic Institute and South County Oncology. He has also developed a strong suite of relationships with technology developers in the Research and Development space and serves as the Acquisition Team Leader for Soitec Solar. While working with Soitec, he led a multinational team to identify and acquire a 200,000 square foot US headquarters and manufacturing facility for this world-leader in Concentrated Photovoltaic Solar Panel production.
Dan launched his career with Burnham Real Estate Company in 1987 and helped build the office and healthcare specialties with the firm before they merged with Cushman and Wakefield in 2008. He graduated with a degree in Philosophy from University of California, Irvine and currently serves on the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee, as well as the CRE committee at the University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate.
Glenn Martin joins The Heritage Group as the Portfolio Manager, where he brings more than 10 years of commercial real estate experience to work with the Real Estate Services team to help continuously develop their portfolio.
Prior to joining The Heritage Group, Glenn served as Senior Property Manager for Kidder Mathews. While at Kidder Mathews, he focused on property operations, financial/reporting, leasing, tenant/client relations, and tenant improvement construction. Over his years of experience, Glenn has worked as Property Manager for Cushman and Wakefield, as well as Portfolio Manager for firms such as G&L Realty and PMB Real Estate Services.
Glenn graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration. He is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), as well as a CPM Candidate. Glenn has also won awards such as the 2016 Kidder Mathews Property Management Assignment and 2008 PMB Portfolio Manager of the Year.
When he’s not at work, Glenn enjoys volunteering at Curie Elementary School.

Rounak Mofty is the Director of Operations for The Heritage Group team. In her role as Director of Operations, Rounak has a wide range of responsibilities including ensuring the efficient running of the company’s offices, marketing, human resource management and providing a high level of assistance to the firm’s Managing Partners. She has worked in the commercial and/or residential real estate industry for ten years.
Rounak received her undergraduate degree in Administration of Justice from San Jose University and received her Masters of Public Administration with an emphasis in Criminology from San Diego State University. Rounak speaks both Kurdish and Farsi, and enjoys cooking, traveling abroad and painting.
Chuck Wagner, Director – Capital Markets is responsible for business development and operational activities in the San Francisco region. Chuck brings more than 17 years of fast paced work experience, holds Series 7 & 63 securities registration and has worked with REITs, TICs and DSTs.
Prior to joining The Heritage Group, Chuck served as president of SourceLink.net, provided business consultation and networking services to Baylor College of Medicine Sleep Center, Double Crown Resources, Inc., Privileged World Travel Club, Inc. and Town Cloud, Inc.
Chuck earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from University of Colorado, Boulder. He is an avid sailor, enjoys international travel and cooking.

Dan Leon, Director of Acquisitions for The Heritage Group, is responsible for sourcing, bidding, & underwriting investment opportunities for investor clients within the portfolio.
Prior to joining The Heritage Group, Dan worked as Financial Analyst & Asset Manager for BioMed Realty, a Blackstone Company. As Asset Manager at BioMed, Dan oversaw the execution of investment strategies for over 3.5 million square feet of assets within the San Francisco and United Kingdom portfolios. Dan was also responsible for underwriting, budgeting, and forecasting over $750 million of development & redevelopment projects within the portfolio.
Dan graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of San Diego with a double major in Finance and Real Estate. In his spare time, he enjoys brewing beer, playing music, trading Stocks, and cheering for the Padres.
Thu Tran joined The Heritage Group in the Spring of 2017 as a senior accountant with more than ten years of experience working in commercial real estate accounting and corporate accounting.
Prior to coming to Heritage Group, Thu was a project accountant at CBRE, Torrey Pines Property Management, as well as senior property accountant at Equastone, Fairfield Residential and Trigild. Throughout her time in those positions, she compiled full-cycle financial reports for several commercial, residential, and hospitality properties; processed payroll for 200+ employees and payroll bill-out to several properties; and performed cash forecasting, while assisting with budgeting, and preparing year-end audit paperwork.
Thu graduated with her bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University of Fullerton. In her free time, Thu enjoys camping, biking, hiking, sewing and watching TV with her kids.

Debra Sebastian is a real estate manager for The Heritage Group, where she demonstrates her robust real estate knowledge that she has gained over 20+ years working in the industry.
Her previous experience includes working as a property administration at IDS Real Estate Group, Inc., where she assisted with the day-to-day management of a 1.5 million square foot portfolio of office, retail, and industrial properties, before becoming the director of compliance and assuming total responsibility for tracking and auditing the compliance of the Firm’s policies, procedures, and systems, performing monthly property audits and supervising the administrative staff. After working at the company for 11 years, Debra moved onto Greenback Financial Services, where she worked as an office assistant and later transitioned to an office manager at Ace Breakers Control & Distribution.
Debra graduated from BOMA Institute with her Real Property Administrator (RPA) Designation and Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) Designation.
Braden Peters, real estate manager at The Heritage Group, assists in handling day-to-day operations of Heritage properties. In this role, Braden is responsible for fiscal management and procurement procedure in connection with each property. He also maintains good client/tenant/owner relations, and conducts periodic on-site inspections.
Prior to joining The Heritage Group, Braden was an event manager for the San Diego State University Aztec Shops. Braden began as an intern at The Heritage Group in 2015 and was promoted to full time property administrator.
Braden graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in business administration with a concentration in management. He enjoys spending his free time volunteering as a youth baseball instructor and playing slow-pitch softball.

Lev Mizan is an associate for The Heritage Group. As an associate, Lev works with the brokerage and capital market teams to facilitate leasing and investment strategies across the portfolio.
Prior to joining The Heritage Group, Lev worked in banking for Wells Fargo where he received special training in sales efficiency, customer service, and business continuity procedures. Lev also worked as an administrative assistant for Bluewater Vacation Homes. In this role, Lev created monthly owner statements, computed the value of rental rates to align with costs and maintenance fees, and served as a liaison between homeowners and guests.
Lev graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and leadership.
Grant Thiem is an associate for The Heritage Group. As an associate, he works with the brokerage and capital market teams to facilitate leasing and investment strategies across the portfolio.
Prior to Heritage, Grant worked as an acquisition and sales associate at Dorado Financial, where he managed private equity aspects, underwrote commercial and residential deals for possible value-add opportunities. He also acted as an in-house agent for finding, acquiring and representing Dorado in transactions.
Grant graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, with his Bachelor of Arts and Science in International Studies and a double minor in Global Business and Economics, and Psychology.
Grant’s current civic affiliations include the El Cajon Lion’s Club, the University Club and the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time he enjoys surfing, fishing, traveling and playing golf.
Alma Espejel, property administrator at The Heritage Group, assists the real estate managers with the day-to-day management of client real estate portfolios. Alma supports special projects that help ensure our firm’s operations run smoothly.
Alma earned an associate degree in American Sign Language from Mesa College in San Diego. She is also fluent in English and Spanish.
Alma enjoys the outdoors and is passionate about serving in her community. She enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with her family.
Kaitlyn Abramczyk is the accounting clerk for The Heritage Group. As the accounting clerk, Kaitlyn assists the senior accountant in handling the day-to-day real estate accounting responsibilities of our portfolio.
Prior to coming to Heritage, Kaitlyn worked as an accounts receivable/credit intern at Callaway Golf, where she worked on SAP System updating customer master files, processed customer invoice payments, and reviewed financial statements for Annual Reviews.
She is currently enrolled at the University of San Diego and expects to graduate in May 2017 with her Bachelor of Accountancy and an emphasis in Finance. In her spare time, Kaitlyn enjoys being outdoors, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
As the marketing coordinator, Natalie works with the brokerage and capital market teams to facilitate leasing and investment strategies across the portfolio.
Prior to Heritage, she was a marketing coordinator at Pacific Coast Commercial where she was responsible for designing and curating a variety of marketing pieces with relevancy to commercial real estate and assisted agents in productively by performing administrative, research and analytic functions.
Over her years of experience, Natalie has worked with Cost Plus World Market, Utopia Management, and Blossom Realty. Natalie graduated from Art Institute of California – San Diego with a degree in Advertising.
While she’s not at work, Natalie enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, gardening and spending time outside with her dogs.
